*
I have fell on my sword
And fallen on ice
I slipped into drugs
And came out barely right
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have killed mice and mood
And drank much to my fill
I have scraped off the paint
And led troops with sheer will
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have burned fine wood
And burned bridges too old
I have led seven vigils
For bodies grown cold
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have looked into the darkness
And I have found the soul
I have come away with the gift of vision
And a better vision of gold
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have learned of Christ’s love
And the number he died to save
I have love for Man, I hope
And I can’t ignore His grace
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have found the beast within
And I try to extract his strength
I have found the king within
And bring order in chaos’ place
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have danced with Love divine
And I have tasted all her fruits
I have rode the beast at dawn
And stared lovingly into its face
*
Christmas, it will come
And the pain will subside
*
I have prayed to the one, and prayed to the sky
And I’ve listened for a response
I have drowned in the signs, gasping for air
And endured every omen’s surprise…
*
But Christmas will come,
And the pain, it will subside
