A year in which the sun
Sat behind the clouds
When has the sun
Been useful beyond this?
*
Say my lifetime was cloudy
Overcast constantly
Am I a blade of glass?
Or a flower much in need?
*
What has the sun done for me?
But given me sweat, doubt,
And lethargy?
*
I renounce the the sun
I admit there’s a reason
Beyond its constant light,
Constant heat, another blight
*
Millions of years away
The sun will have to explode
The milky way will fall that day
And so will anything close
*
Humanity will die
Won’t the animals?
Our descendants?
The earth itself…
*
So why enjoy it?
Why tolerate it?
Why call it a friend?
It is enemy, isn’t it?
*
Whereas should it hide
We will be fine
Without the sweat
Without the constant
Reminder of death
*
The fate awaiting
Our entire planet
And us too
If we don’t move
*
If we don’t relocate
Far enough away
From the earth we have loved
From the entire galaxy
*
Can you replace the sun?
If only I had the power
If we built a better source
And foliage had other demands
*
Or kill me now
And stop teasing me
With sleepiness
*
