Nine: Letter to Lestat

Dearest Lestat,

You know that I need you. It’s been shit, fuckery, and just a debauchable disaster without you…

My vampire, my human, my dawg, my psychotherapist…

Dearest Lestat,

You know my life, and all I’ve been through, the blood in my heart, that’s kept me from you.

But Lestat your face, is greater than flesh. Hunting reigns down, and heals me again…

Look, I haven’t been entirely forthcoming. I’m trying to use some different form of journaling than talking to you. Namely, the Captain’s Log from Star Trek.

It works with a voice recorder or video recorder, but it isn’t the same as writing an innocent letter, like this…

So here’s what you’ve been missing:

I’m staring at every pair of legs that cross my sight! And the thing is, I’m married!

My wife’s legs are fantastic! She isn’t the problem! Not at all. It’s just that I’m getting so laid that all the temptation around me turns into juice for the one woman who gets to drink it straight into her throat later! I’m a goddamn stud with a constant drainage system!

Is it odd that my wife makes me unavailable for the tail at my college campus?

I’ll field that one fore you: hell no!

I’m actually happy that I don’t have to play any of these other girl’s games because as soon as I get home, I’m getting some! And it’s more than likely BETTER than I would have got from the college girls, because she 1) knows what she’s doing 2) can handle any mistake 3) will still fuck me later, and 4) I love her physique no matter what happens to it!

Lestat, my wife is ACTUALLY GREAT!!

I’M ACTUALLY HAPPY!!!!

WTF!?!?!?!?!?!

I thought I’d fall out of love, or get sick of her body, or fall short of the sexual occasion, but I can’t tell you how good I am at this!!!

It’s like this is all I have been needing for all my life. And I’m 38 years old, this is my first marriage, and I feel more committed than a United States Marine to their country, their brotherhood, and their comrades!

Lestat…

I’m scared now.

I’m scared that your eternal life looks ridiculous compared to my mortal one. Scared that I am not just expressing happiness, but gaining envy.

Envy isn’t what I intended. But this is love, this is romance, and it always leaves someone green.

It just can NOT be you.

Because I will be back. I will seek you again.

And from what I understand, it is better to seek, than to believe you understand anything…

Better to continue seeking than to ever get an answer. I’ve come to learn that seeking is the point. Our human hearts crave it. And nothing we call the answer will ever last as long as our ability, or instinct, to Seek.

Ever your servant,

Emmanuel Williams
